  • GENERAL
    • ATC Coordination” Page has been added under the “Training Department” tab on the ZLC website.
This will also be useful to quickly reference during a controlling session prior to conducting a certain type of coordination.
This page is to be reviewed and all questions directed to a member of the training department.
    • Updated ZLC ISR (In-Scope-Reference) CBT.
    • vERAM Filters CBT Updated for new change
    • Command Reference page updated to reflect the following changes in ALIAS.
  • ALIAS
    • Changed:
      • The old VRC (.VORS) command now belongs to vERAM.
        • You may use .vVORS for this same function when using VRC.
      • .FIELDS now only works in vERAM.
        • You may use .vFIELDS for this same function when using VRC.
      • All Airport Specific commands for DPs and STARS now are prefixed with the airport ID (FAA, not ICAO). The idea is to prefix the DP/STAR code with the airport ID.
        Examples:
        • The ISR for the KSLC airport ARCHZ departure for the Clearance Delivery phase of flight:
          .SLCARCHZDEL
        • The PDC command for the Gowen Departure out of KBOI when Departure is with UNICOM and there was a change to the filed flight plan by ATC:
          .TPDCBOIGOWENUCHG
  • Added:
    • “Down Time” .DT command in preparation for upcoming Directive Changes.
    • Removed the following old commands due to deconfliction with newer commands and preparation for VRC retirement:
      • .CD, .CA, .SD, .SA, .G, .T, .DG, .GD, .DT, .TD, .AG, .GA, .AT, .TA
    • Removed “Change to Departure” phraseology from the .MILCT command.
      • NOTE: This phraseology should only be used with Military towers, not Civilian.
  • vERAM
    • “NAV” Filter now contains “ZLC Significant Points” indicated by a plus symbol. TDM displays the point name.

24MAY2021 (7110.65z Change Brief)

7110.65z Change Briefing for vZLC (VATSIM)
These changes effective 17JUN2021

4-3-4
DEPARTURE RESTRICTIONS, CLEARANCE VOID TIMES,
HOLD FOR RELEASE, AND RELEASE TIMES

Even though it was standard practice to issue a release, hold for release, or release time with non-towered IFR departures, it is now a REQUIREMENT.

5-3-4 & 5-4-5 & 5-4-6
TRANSFER OF RADAR IDENTIFICATION AND RESPONSIBILITY

Multiple items were removed from these sections to remove ambiguity. Controllers only need to understand that the controller initiating a handoff is responsible for any and all coordination required with that handoff.

Example: John was controlling SLC_CTR and got a handoff of an aircraft from MSP_CTR that was going to enter DEN_CTR airspace for a little while before entering SLC airspace. In this scenario, John was able to accept the handoff without first coordinating a Point-Out with DEN_CTR because it was MSP_CTR responsibility as the initiating controller to conduct that coordination in a timely manner, and ideally prior to initiating a handoff to SLC_CTR.

5−9−6 & 5-9-7 & 5-9-8 & 5-9-9
SIMULTANEOUS APPROACHES

Changes in this section do not affect ZLC operations but for informational purposes: this change removes all references to airport field elevations as a condition to be met to conduct simultaneous independent approaches and creates new provisions to account for reduced runway centerline spacing (RCLS) when high update rate surveillance is used. This may be something that is useful with the new VATSIM “Velocity“ feature that will be released in the near future.

7−4−4
APPROACHES TO MULTIPLE RUNWAYS

When referencing Terminal (vSTARS) operations and relying on the primary target symbols for separation, the FAA now allows a “Fusion” target with that requirement. We do not yet have Fusion simulation but we might get it in vSTARS after VATSIM releases their ‘Velocity’ update.

This section is now also easier to read due to editorial changes by the FAA.

The paragraphs in this section with most significant changes ( 7-4-4 c.2) do not apply to any airports within ZLC Airspace, but for informational purposes: This change adds procedures for when aircraft are approaching from the same side of the airport. It also spells out the procedures when aircraft are approaching from opposite base legs, or when one aircraft is turning to final, and another aircraft is established on an adjacent runway centerline.

22JUL2020 (7110.65Y CHG2)

  • GENERAL
    • The following changes were made to the FAA JO 7110.65Y for the “Change 2” release and affect our VATSIM/vZLC operations. These changes were made effective on 16JUL2020; We apologize for the delay in distributing this information.
  • 2−1−4. OPERATIONAL PRIORITY
    • NOTE-Due to the nature of VATSIM’s “First Come, First Server” policy, only provide priority handling of aircraft if the pilots of other aircraft that will be delayed agree to the priority handling that would be provided to the aircraft requesting the service.
  • The term “MEDEVAC” is no longer identified as a Callsign. It is now used as a prefix to an FAA authorized callsign to notify the ATC of the need for priority handling. Expect aircraft requesting priority handling for medical reasons to check-in with a “MEDEVAC” prior to their callsign and they might not use that term again while speaking with you. “MEDEVAC November One Two Three” or “MEDEVAC CAREAIR Seven Two Niner”.
    • If a flight plan includes the letter “L” for “MEDEVAC” and/or includes “MEDEVAC” in the Remarks section of the flight plan, the entries are considered informational in nature only and not an identification for operational priority.
  • Provide priority handling to AIR EVAC and HOSP flights ONLY when verbally requested by the pilot.
  • 2−1−25. WHEELS DOWN CHECK
    • United States Air Force (USAF) no longer require ATC to provide a “Wheels Down Check” in the landing clearance phraseology. This still applies to United States Army and Navy aircraft.
  • 2−1−29. RVSM OPERATIONS
    • Now ATC may allow aircraft to remain in RVSM airspace using reduced vertical separation minima after the loss of a transponder or Mode C altitude reporting.
